Countdown to Mardi Gras

So Ashley over at Quasichick posted this picture of King Cake yesterday on her blog! She is from Louisiana too!  My mouth was watering.

Doesn’t it look good?  You can only get King Cake around the time of Mardi Gras in Louisiana.  When I was growing up, we always had King Cake on Fridays and the student who got the baby  had to bring the King Cake the next Friday.  My aunt always ships one to me in NC every year.  But this year, I am going to Mardi Gras to celebrate my mom’s 50th Birthday!  I can’t wait!  I haven’t been back to NOLA since 2003.  It will be my husband’s first time in NOLA.  I don’t think he understands how much fun Mardi Gras is going to be.

To celebrate going to Mardi Gras, my mom ordered my sister, her Nick, my Nick and myself hats to wear while we are there. 

I got a Fleur de Lis hat, Nick got a tall hat, Katie’s Nick got a beer mug hat, and Katie got a blingy jester hat.  Cooper didn’t get a hat as this is going to be an adults only trip.  I can’t wait to take Cooper to Louisiana and let him see where mommy grew up!  He already loves jambalaya!
